Thomas Alva Edison is probably one of the world’s greatest inventors of all time, whose work has contributed to our everyday lives in more ways than we know. His most famous and widely recognized invention is of course the light bulb! Here is his story.....

Thomas Alva Edison was born on the 11th of February 1847 in Milan, Ohio and was the seventh and last child of Samuel Ogden Jr and Nancy Matthews Elliott. His siblings were Marion, William, Carlisle, Harriet, Samuel and Eliza. Unfortunately, Carlisle, Samuel and Eliza all died during their early years. Due to early illnesses Thomas started school a little older. Thomas was only in school for about 3 months due to the fact of his teacher talking to the school master saying hes 'dull,' From there on is was homed schooled. He was married to Mary Silwell for 13 years due to Mary's death, and married Mina Miller for a good 45 years.Edison became almost fully deaf after a train accident at the age of 12. 20 years before he died his health was very bad so he spent more time with his wife at home.
Thomas Alva Edison died at the age of 84 on the 18th of October 1931 after being in a shocking coma for 4 days.
